Oracle Founder and CEO Larry Ellison is set to purchase 98% of the Hawaiian island of Lanai, according to Hawaii’s Governor Neil Abercrombie.
Here are some things you may not know about this quaint & exclusive piece of paradise-
-The island has no traffic lights
-It is only 9 miles from Maui, yet it feels like a different world
-Lanai is the smallest inhabited island in Hawaii
-Total island size is 140 sq. miles
-The island is home to one of the largest pods of spinner dolphins in the world
-Lanai has 2 resorts and 2 golf courses
-Humpback whales are regularly seen off Lanai’s shores from December through May
-Known as the Pineapple Island, Lanai once produced 75% of the world’s pineapples
I’ve been to Kauai (which I loved), but I haven’t yet made it to Lanai. What is your favorite Hawaiian island?
