I knew the symptoms all too well. I was right in the middle of a full fledged attack – of St. John withdrawal. So I convinced Mr. Reeftraveler to sneak down with me on a moment’s notice. It didn’t take much convincing, really. Once you’ve been St. John, you’re under its spell forever.
I’ve always admired Gallows Point Resort from the ferry, and this time we decided to make it our home for the week. We were warmly welcomed at the ferry dock by Khiran, who quickly grabbed our bags and took us on the five minute drive to the resort.
We stayed in an upper level oceanfront unit, with beautiful views of the sun setting over St Thomas. The condo was modern, spacious and comfortable (and pretty luxurious too).
The resort’s grounds are green and lush, and even though it’s a stone’s throw from busy Cruz Bay, it feels like a secluded tropical hideaway.
The proximity to Cruz Bay is a huge plus – allowing us to take twice daily walks into town for food, drink and merriment (and a little shopping).
The resort’s topside beauty and warm, friendly atmosphere were undeniable, but what would we find underwater on the house reef?
Let’s just say it didn’t disappoint. There’s much more to follow, including lots of underwater shots, in my next post.
